The right candidate
at the right time
Republican Julie Dijkstra isn't the usual
candidate for Elkhart County sheriff, but
she
has all the familiar credentials people
expect of a successful leader.
From the day she started at the sheriff's
department
as a jail officer to her time
in patrol and administration, Julie
consistently has exceeded expectations
and been respected for her work. Today,
as chief deputy of the 230-employee
department, she makes critical decisions
daily on personnel, legal and all other important matters.
For 24 consecutive years, she has come to work at the sheriff's department and made a difference for the community. Her commitment to public service doesn't end there, though.
She is a longtime member of the Safe Kids Elkhart County board, a group focused on keeping our youth safe by reducing needless accidents. She's an elder at her church, as well, and serves on boards for the Salvation Army of Goshen and the Elkhart Area Career Center.
And, she has found the time to raise three boys.
Julie started on the path to a career in law enforcement when, as a student, she attended a camp sponsored by the state police. Her commitment has not wavered, her leadership abilities are supported by her accomplishments, and she looks forward to serving as your sheriff. |
